Tonight residents of Turangawaewae Marae had their opinion heard and voted  to confirm their support of current Te Kauhanganui chairperson Tania Martin.

Turangawaewae Marae has overwhelmingly approved of Mrs. Martin’s plans to audit and cap the excessive spending habits of Tainui’s Te Arataura executive board headed by Tuku Morgan.

Mrs. Martin has stated that she proposes to bring transparency, accountability and fairness when dealing with Tainui’s financial affairs.

Attempts by Te Arataura to have Mrs. Martin disqualified because of errors in her November 2010 report to Te Kauhanganui were strongly rejected at tonight’s meeting.
