Flashback to last year when Tuku’s dopehead Bro was in the headlines…

Dead wife blamed for drug operation

A Huntly man convicted of selling cannabis from his family home has blamed his late wife for the family drug operation.

Amo Morgan, 55, was sentenced on Monday at the Hamilton District Court to 10 months’ jail after earlier pleading guilty to four charges of selling cannabis and four charges of possessing cannabis for supply.

Between October and November 2008, undercover police purchased cannabis at Morgan’s family home.

On November 21, Morgan was arrested after a police search warrant uncovered $2000 worth of bulk cannabis at the Huntly address.

Morgan initially accepted responsibility for the cannabis operation and admitted selling cannabis at the address for several months.

However, defence counsel Michael Robb in court said Morgan’s initial statement to police was simply designed to protect his son, Te Iwi Ngaro Morgan, who lived at the address.

Te Iwi Ngaro Morgan, 19, and his partner Lucille Tumai, also 19, were later sentenced to community detention and community work respectively after pleading guilty to cannabis related charges.

Amo Morgan’s wife was also charged over the incident but died in March last year, part-way through the legal proceedings.

Mr Robb said Amo Morgan did not live at the family home on a permanent basis and had claimed his late wife was the “prime mover” in the drug dealing.

In sentencing, Judge Arthur Tompkins said Morgan’s efforts to blame the bulk of the offending on his wife contradicted his earlier statements.

He said an electronically-monitored sentence was not appropriate because Morgan had offended at home and over a reasonably extensive period.

Morgan’s offending was also aggravated by his readiness to involve his son in the offending.

I dont understand why you would be displaying this. What is your purpose to expose HIS family in that way again. Omg girl stick to the issue if u talking bout Tuku talk bout him not attack his FAMILY. I cant help what my family do, Is your family so perfect it makes u who u r? Gosh let them be. If anything this story only proves that theres still a dysfunctional connection between iwi and government. And injustice still manages to drag a 55yr old family man away for $2000 hoping society will become a better place instead making room for more if not better supplus to move. Giving him status in the community and an Option for any young maori men looking for a cheap buck. Pattern hasnt stopped its only given more opportunities to continue. So if anything should let that be the message here. Stop the pattern
Instead of the trashing of someones whanau to gain a so called better understanding of the man.

As the old saying goes “The apple don’t fall far from the tree” to illustrate a point. Thats why this article was posted. If Tuku Morgan’s brother didn’t want to be in the news he shouldn’t be dealing drugs to children.

His actions had a negative impact on the mana of his whanau whanui ki waenganui i roto nga tikanga o whakapapa me whanaungatanga, thus we all have a responsibility to ensure whanau make better choices…Tuku is in a position to postively influence his whanau and to avert this sort of thing happening again amongst his own. But then again, maybe thats why Tuku favors more jails in Tainui rohe…to accomodate his whanau!!
