Smear Job: Tania Martin

Here’s the report of the police investigation that ROBIN WHANGA initiated, with the full assistance of TUKU MORGAN, TE ARATAURA, and CHAPMANN TRIP -paid for in full by the people of the Waikato Iwi.

The whole aim of this outrageous exercise was to lay BASELESS allegations which were not supported by any facts, against Tania Martin because she dared question the excessive spending done by Tuku and his Te Arataura mob.

Yet another example of what is wrong at ‘Tainui’ when a few criminals abuse the resources of the entire tribe in an effort to destroy one person.

Re Complaint into Financial Mismanagement at Hiona Marae

Dear Sir

On 6 May 2011 you met with Detective Inspector PACE and discussed with him a complaint that you had in respect of alleged financial mismanagement by those involved with the affairs of the Hiona Marae. However, it is clear that the subject of this complaint is at Ms Tania Martin who I understand was the former chair of Te Kauhanganui (Waikato Tainui Parliament) and who has been somewhat outspoken in relation to some matters within the Kingitanga and in particular she has been critical of spending within Te Arataura the parliament’s executive board.

Ms Martin is the representative of the Hiona Marae.

In addition after that meeting you subsequently provided a box of documents to the Police which were relevant to this complaint. More

An uncomfortable feeling for Mr Morgan

The lying liar’s pants burn brightly and as we have said all along, Tuku’s lies get exposed by the NZ Police…

Police drop Tainui investigation

Police have dropped an investigation against the head of the Waikato Tainui parliament, saying there’s little evidence to support allegations of financial mismanagement.

The complaint against Tania Martin was initiated by Hiona Marae member Robin Whanga and supported by the chairperson of Te Arataura or the tribal executive, Tukuroirangi Morgan.

Mrs Martin had been accused of being involved in payments that were wrongfully made for such items as fans and lights, and even for housie sessions at Hiona Marae in the 1990s.

But the police looked into the case and found nothing untoward happened.

A spokesperson for Mrs Martin, Chris Webster, says the allegations were made because Mrs Martin released a report late last year that criticised Te Arataura for overspending.

Mr Whanga says he complained because of Mrs Martin’s comment that Te Arataura should be transparent and accountable.

Mrs Martin plans to file a police complaint against Mr Whanga and Mr Morgan.

Enigma of a strong Kingitanga woman who’s staying staunch

It’s been a difficult time for Tania Martin, the Waikato-Tainui leader who bounced back last week from a political crisis sparked by her scathing November report about executive tribal spending.

King Tuheitia fired her as a chairwoman of the tribe’s parliament, Te Kauhanganui, shortly after.

However, she refused to distance herself from her report which asked for greater transparency and a review of Te Arataura’s (Tainui’s executive board) activities.

Pay the lawyer…

Te Kauhanganui chairperson Tania Martin incurred significant costs while successfully defending herself at the high court in December against desperate individuals who would ignore the constitution at all costs to see her replaced with someone who is more ‘willing’ and ‘compliant’.

Remember that in 2008 the previous chair of Te Kauhanganui, Tom Roa, had to defend himself at the high court against the Tuku Morgan led Te Arataura executive in similar circumstances. Te Arataura lost that one too, so Tuku already has a lousy track record at the Hamilton high court.

In recent times Te Arataura has had no qualms about wasting hundreds of thousands of Tainui dollars on legal fees.

Could it be that the campaign to strongarm marae representatives into voting against having the chairperson’s legal fees paid for by Tainui, be underway already? It seems that this would be a method of financial punishment for Tania Martin because Tuku Morgan is suffering much embarrassment after yesterday when 32 courageous marae voted for a positive direction for Tainui.
